My 18th favorite time of the year
I have many favorite times of the year. Christmas, Easter, my kids birthdays, my husband’s birthday, my birthday, vacation week, spring, fall, summer, but I thought I would dedicate a post to my 18th favorite time of the year.
Are you ready?
It is a blessed day, one that you wait expectantly for all year.
GIRL SCOUT COOKIES HAVE BEEN DELIVERED TO OUR HOUSE!!!!!
This is a long standing tradition in my home that dates back to my brief stint as a Brownie. I actually got kicked out of Brownies for talking too much. Not a shining point in my childhood, I must admit. I remember the day vividly. I actually got sent out of the room and had to stand outside the classroom. I hid in the nurses clinic when my teacher passed by and of course I did not volunteer this information to my mom when she came to pick me up. But, as fate would have it, we ran into the above said teacher at the local IGA afterwards, who evidently, had seen me. She brings it up to my mom, and I am busted. I was not cut out for Girl Scouts, I guess. Not that I am bitter or anything.
I do remember selling girl scout cookies, though. I would walk my neighborhood soliciting buyers for the best cookies known to man. Then, I would load up my wagon and deliver the boxes of cookies.

My personal favorite are the Tagalongs, which are loaded with peanut butter gooeyness.
My second favorites are the Samoas. I am the only one in my household who eats these, which is a good and bad thing!
I know this is a deeply thought provoking, soul-searching post. But, I just had to pay my respects to my 18th favorite time of the year!
Oh,we love these, too! I love the tagalongs and the chocolate mint ones….yummm! I really like all of them…what are the lemony ones called? I like those, too!
I’m sorry about your Brownie experience!
Kim
I too was a brownie! And, yes, I too was expelled from a meeting one afternoon for talking. Except I started to walk home (small town), and my mom, on her way to pick me up, saw me walking and became enraged that her daughter was walking home early from her girl scout meeting. We drove back to the parish house (we met in the Episcopal church’s parish house) and Mom gave the leader a good tongue-lashing for telling me to go home. The reason I was talking? This is the part I just *loved*…the leader’s daughter started to get sick and vomit during the meeting. I interrupted the meeting to tell the leader, “Melissa is throwing up!” and I ran to the bathroom to help her. For that I was thrown out. Maybe Ms. Lee had had a bad day or something.
Are you the only one you know who still refers to the cookies by their original names? I don’t know the new names! So, I always call them what I grew up calling them and no one knows what I’m talking about! Do you get that, too?
Samoas are my favorite.
Leslie- I am so glad you can relate to my brownie experience!!!!
I totally get what you are saying about the new names. On the web site it uses old and new ones!!
You have exquisite taste in cookies–Taglongs and Samoas are my favorites, too!
Another Brownie reject here.
I have a serious addiction to Thin Mints. “A Whole Box In One Day” kind of addiction. It ain’t pretty.
They are yummy in a bad bad way!
